INTRODUCTION
Welcome to Handycapper Horse Racing Figures. Handycapper started out simply as a challenge to try to find a mathematical expression to predict how a horse will perform under known conditions. After reading many books on the subject and over 7 years later, I have assembled together using Microsoft Excel, a fairly detailed yet simple (once practiced) methodology which I believe will help an individual improve their handicapping decisions and ultimately their winnings.
There are three groups of data to utilize for making a handicapping decision. They are:
- LAST RACE: a comparison of the last race (LR) Pace figures with a computer generated summary based on past historical data analysis. This can be used as a stand-alone data set once familiar to its strengths and weaknesses.
- PACELINES: the last ten Pacelines with pace figures, and provides the ability to select the lead horse and the paceline that best represents how the horse is expected to run today. The selected paceline is then sent to the SUMMARY data set as input for other calculations.
- SUMMARY: a horizontal summary of the User selected Pacelines with calculated pace differentials between the lead horse and the horse being handicapped. The User can go back to the PACELINE data set and change the selected paceline and see how a different pace will affect performance. Color schemes are used to emphasize strengths.
You will need to download the file located on the page
"Using The Handycapper". It explains each group of data mentioned above and each attribute within the group. There is simply way too much information and some of the data will be meaningless without some explaining. You will not need all the information available to you most of the time, however, it is important to learn where the information is so you can get it if you need it.
You should then download the file located on the page titled
"The Belmont 2010 - 2011". This is a Microsoft WORD (2010) document. In this document I go through each horses past performance and highlight the clues which I think will help the handicapper make an informed decision. You may be very surprised at how much information is actually available. Of course you won't know everything and you sometimes won't know the "why?" behind a specific indicator, so there is some probability that your deduction will not occur again. That is where making your own odds will play a part. You can go back and forth between pacelines and see how each one affects the overall field and finish. You may be amazed on how much trends and patterns play into a horses expected performance, but then again, it seems everything has a trend and pattern.
I personally like picking each paceline and then assessing the Summary
Page while I make changes to individual horses paceline to see if there
is a potential for a big upset, if there is, then I determine if the
likelihood is high or low. Then I make my odds based on my confidence in
what the data is telling me.
Everyone needs practice to get good at using something new, SO.... I thought it would be fitting to make available to you the most recent Cream Of Horse Racing Races - The Triple Crown 2008 - 2011. This is where you will see the best performances of the young horses making a place in history. You can practice on these races just by clicking on one of the images below.
I hope to make available to you a detailed breakdown of these Triple Crown Races sometime before this years Triple Crown. For now you do have "The Belmont 2010 - 2011". I wanted to at least give you an opportunity to see how accurate picking the correct paceline is on picking contenders and of course winners. It really is amazing how much these winners have in common. That is what I hope to provide to you in the near future. So stay tuned....
I have added a page titled "Available Races" which are race cards from past races which you can use to study and practice with.
The TRIPLE CROWN 2008 - 2011 with the HANDYCAPPER
You will find 11 of the 12 triple crown races from 2008 - 2011 on these
files. NOTE: It is a large file and may take a while to download,
depending on your download capabilities.
I highly recommend downloading the file under the tab titled "The
Belmont 2010 -2011" for an explanation on how I assessed each horses
paceline. I hope you will see that there are many clues as to how a horse should perform in "today's" race. In addition, you will need to read the users guide, accessible
via the TAB "Using The Handycapper", because there is a lot of data
available and you will need to familiarize yourself with what each
attribute is in order to make a reasonable conclusion.
